A human-centered approach to better learning
The Kintess School - Karine Pousset - A human-centered approach to better learning
Here at the Kintess School, we prioritize relationships.
Human connection is very important to us. That’s why in-person learning is essential.
Our teachers are, of course, certified and trained in developmental psychology, as well as in social and clinical neuroscience.
But beyond their qualifications, what truly matters to us is fostering analysis, reflection, discussion, and dialogue, rather than simply placing children in front of a screen to watch a video and absorb a concept.
No, we present the concept to the students. We emphasize the importance of writing down their initial understanding, their midway reflections, and finally, their understanding at the end.
That’s why, here at the Kintess School, our students have research journals. These journals are a space where they develop critical thinking.
They begin each new concept by expressing what they already know, and by the end, they can clearly see how their understanding has evolved, deepened, and become more precise.
They can see their learning journey. Once again, here at Kintess, students don’t just go through learning, they live it. They explore it. It’s an experience, not a task.
That’s also why we begin teaching cursive writing as early as kindergarten. Why cursive so early? Because it supports the development of fluid thinking.
When children write in print (block letters), their reading and writing tend to be choppy.
Cursive, on the other hand, allows for smoother, more continuous motion, helping them to think and express themselves more fluidly, connecting thought with hand movement in a seamless way.
