Middle School (6th-8th Grade)
In our Middle School program, spanning 6th to 8th Grade, we offer a comprehensive curriculum that builds upon the bilingual foundation established in earlier years while expanding students’ academic horizons across all key subjects.
Language (50% English, 40% Spanish & 10% French)
Language instruction is thoughtfully divided into three components: 40% of the curriculum focuses on either Spanish or French, 10% on the second language (French or Spanish), and the remaining 50% on English. This structure enables students to deepen their fluency in their primary language while maintaining proficiency in the secondary language and advancing their English skills. This balanced approach fosters continued language proficiency and cultural understanding.
Math (Spanish or French) + English
Mathematics instruction is delivered bilingually, with concepts presented in both Spanish or French and English. This method strengthens students’ mathematical abilities while reinforcing their language skills and problem-solving strategies. We teach students to learn through the language, not just about it, further deepening their understanding and application of mathematical principles.
STEM (Spanish or French) + English
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education is taught in Spanish or French, as well as English. By learning in the language, students become agile thinkers as this approach allows them to explore STEM concepts and practices in both languages, enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation skills.
Art (Spanish or French) + English
Art classes are equally divided, with 50% of instruction in either Spanish or French and 50% in English. This enables students to explore their creativity in diverse linguistic and cultural contexts, fostering a deeper appreciation for the arts. We provide opportunities for students to express themselves through various artistic mediums and learn about different cultural and artistic traditions.
Social Studies (English)
Social Studies instruction is primarily conducted in English, allowing students to explore topics such as history, geography, civics, and culture with a focus on critical analysis from a global perspective.
Music (English)
Music education is a cornerstone of our program, delivered primarily in English. Students have the opportunity to explore various musical genres, develop their musical abilities, and cultivate an appreciation for music. This enhances cognitive skills, including memory and problem-solving, while fostering creativity and self-expression.
Physical Education (PE) (English)
Physical Education (PE) is taught in English, emphasizing the importance of physical fitness, motor skills development, learning different sports, and teamwork. At Kintess, we offer a spacious outdoor area for students to boost their health. Exercising outdoors provides numerous benefits for physical and mental well-being, including fresh air and natural light that regulate sleep patterns and improve mood. Varying terrain challenges balance, coordination, and agility, while connecting with nature reduces stress and anxiety levels.
Our Middle School curriculum for 6th-8th Grade builds upon the bilingual foundation established in earlier years, providing students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for academic success and global citizenship. We continually challenge our students to uncover and nurture their individual talents, preparing them for continued success in their educational journey and beyond.
